Does AI have "catch up" option in NFSMW, I feel it has

It does, but in MW there is no option to disable it.

Isn't that frustrating?

Yes, it is. Luckily it's only a slight inconvenience and doesn't truly
make the game harder.

actually, it is harder for me. i usually get 7 - 15 seconds ahead, then
right as the other cars are rocketing to catch up, i crash into something.
oh well, gotta live with it.

The catch up feature works both ways. The faster you go, the faster the
AI go, but if you slow up, the AI will slow up as well. The AI seem to
"penalize" you if you make a mistake by hitting a trackside object, or
by not taking some key shortcuts. On the other hand, sometimes hitting
traffic results in the AI slowing up as well. So the point here is to
run slower but clean laps.

If you get a 10 second lead, don't try to maintain it, the AI will
speed up to catch back up. How fast the AI run seems to vary depending
on the event/track. Sometimes you get a lead that you can maintain,
othertimes, you just barely win.

Also I seem to get the feeling that if you have a lot of unique
performance upgrades on your car the AI drives much more aggressively
and faster. Some of the last events seemed very hard when I first tried
them with my maxxed out ride, but when I switched to a "regular" level 3
tuned ride I won easily.

I don't think it's the parts themselves, but the actual acceleration of
your car. Even with a maxed out car,if you hold back on how fast you
accelerate (like not using NOS at the start), the AI won't be as
fast.

Im not very sure of this but I had my car better than my opponent's (I
know this because I have won a pink slip), but on the event the cars
were even. I feel like the performance upgrade more than a level
doesn't make any difference

My apologies. NFSMW is the game in question.
