GETTING ALL REWARD CARDS IN A SINGLE CAREER
There are two key career rewards. The remaining rewards will occur if you win
every event in career, and by events done after defeating the final boss.
Iron Wall - win 20 defensive races in career mode
Challenges only occur on non-completed races. If there is only one non-completed
race remaining, start the race, abort and exit to free roam. Repeat until a
challenge occurs. Repeat this sequence until "Iron Wall" is rewarded.
Career Mogul - have a balance of 1,000,000 cash in Career Mode
Win every event (1,123,300). Have Neville in crew, and Sampson active as much as
possible. Get the pink slips (see below) to win all 3 tier 2 boss cars. All of
this adds up to about 1,350,000, leaving 350,000 to buy cars and parts, not
enough to max out 3 cars, but enough for 1 or 2 depening on which cars you buy
or win.
WINNING THE 3 TIER 2 BOSS CARS
To guarantee winning a pink slip for a boss car, disable autosave before
starting a boss race, win the races, then choose random markers. Repeat until
the pink slip is won, then save and reenable autosave.
UNLOCKING BOSS RACES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Each zone only requires winning 10 races, 2 per territory, to unlock a boss race,
which results in a new boss car and a new crew member (like Sampson) as soon as
possible.
REPEAT CAREER VIA BUSTED / IMPOUND / GAME OVER
To do this on purpose, sell all but one car, go in to free roam, get busted and
pay the fine, then repeat until your car is impounded for too many strikes.
Choose to start over. All of the rewards will remain, and all parts and cars
previously unlocked will remain unlocked. However, there are no markers after
winning boss races, so there's less total money in a repeat career.
CAREER RACING STRATEGY
Use speedbreaker if an event is proving difficult (not available in canyon
duels). Use shortcuts (a scout would help here, but Sampson provides more money).
Use the cheat codes. Note that the AI get faster each time you defeat a boss.
CAREER CHEAT CODES
Note, to make career easier, the cheat codes for infinite nitrous, infinite
speed, and infinite crew charge will work for career mode. Enter these while at
the main menu:
Consoles (X is square on PS2):
Infinite nitrous - left up left down right X
Infinite speedbreaker - down right right left right up down X
Infinite crew member - down up up right left left right X
PC
Infinite nitrous - nosforeverever
Infinite speedbreaker - slowitdownwhenyouwant
Infinite crew member - friendlyheadlocksapplied
CAREER STRATEGY - NEVER BUY ANYTHING - MAX MONEY - USE 3 BOSS CARS
Start with Camaro SS (muscle). Run 10 events in Kempton, 2 per territory. Run
checkpoints, drifts, or canyon events for these 10 races, since Sampson can't
race these if you leave them for later (less money). Turn off autosave and race
Angie with the Camaro SS. The handicapping at this stage in career reduces the
difficulty. Pick a random marker to get the pink slip, reload and repeat until
the pink slip is won. Save game and re-enable autosave. Hire and activate
Sampson. Switch to Angie's Charger R/T. It's slow, but this early in career mode
it's good enough.
Run 10 events in Fortuna using Angie's Charger R/T. Run the boss race against
Wolf and win his DB9.
Run 10 events in Downtown using Wolf's DB9. Run the boss race against Kenji and
win his RX7.
Use the RX7 to complete all non-completed races. Avoid completing last race
until 20 defends (Iron Wall) reward is received. Complete the last race and then
do the crew / Darius boss race.
CAREER STRATEGY - 240SX, KENJI'S RX7, AND LANCER
Start with the RX8 (tuner). Run 2 races which opens up the car lot. Buy the
240SX. Sell the RX8. Race the 240SX for the next 8 races, and then win Kenji's
RX7. Sell the 240SX. Hire and activate Yumi (parts discount). As tier 2 pro
parts get unlocked, you can add all of them to the RX7 for 76,000. The racing
nitrous can be replaced with an adjustable one for 10,000. Take over Kempton
(10 races minimum), win and sell Angie's Charger, hire and activate Sampson.
Take over Fortuna, win and sell Wolf's DB9.
The Lancer unlock event is in Infinity Park - Journeyman's Bane - canyon duel
against Kenji, using his own RX7. The events with tier 3 racing parts are:
brakes + suspension - Infinity Park - Grey Street;
turbo - Shady Pine - Spade Street;
nitrous + tires - Shady Pine - Paradise Hotel;
engine - Silverton Refinery - Brooks Street;
transmission - Silverton Refinery - Journeyman's Bane (drift).
POST CAREER
A lot of reward cards are completed when career is done. The simple ones left
are lose any race (canyon is quickest). Fill car will all exotic, muscle, tuner
- note that the same car can be repeated, so buy multiples of the cheapest car.
Next is probably buying the cars and fully upgrading them for online racing.
These would be the 240SX for tier 1. Golf R32 for tier 2 canyon. Lotus Elise for
tier 2 general, and the Z06 for tier 3 speed events. Viper might be good for
drifting if interested. For pursuit events, turn off autosave and use the Z06.
save and re-enable autosave after completing an event. The longest pursuit event
is ramming 100 police cars; infinite nitrous and speedbreaker cheat codes
recommended for this. 50K in fines requires a lot of infractions from multiple
pursuits. See the infractions section (next). Most boring is 50 free roam
challenges, as it takes 90 seconds before a challenger appears, so this eats up
over 90 minutes. 50 quick races goes quicker if you do canyon against Wolf with
the Z06. Pass by and hang on for the first two turns, or just crash into the
first rail if you don't care about winning.
INFRACTIONS
speeding - 150+mph - fine = 350
excessive speeding - 180+mph - fine = 150
reckless driving - 200+mph - fine = 1000
property damage - hit anything that can be moved - fine = 100
hit and run - hit any civilian car - fine = 300
ramming a police vehicle - hit a police vehicle - fine = 350
evade pursuit - cooldown mode - fine = 300
----
Maximum of 7 infractions per pursuit - fine = 2550
Apparently there's no driving off roadway in Carbon.
