Yes, it works OK. The game sometimes crashes to desktop and sometimes disconnects
during online play, but apparently not any more often than it does for others with single
core cpus.

Hi!, I have an Intel pentium 4 (3.2 ghz) and the game sometimes crashes to
desktop too. I think that this is a game problem not a processor problem.

Happy New Year All!

Just updated my machine to a dual core Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and was having
problems with NFSMW & Carbon crashing to a blue screen or to a reboot. I
received this advice from a very helpful chap at EA Support (and on New
Year's day too!):

"If you run a dual core CPU, such as a Pentium D or AMD X2, or even a
Pentium 4 with HyperThreading, you may notice that the game is quite jerky
even at high framerates, or it may crash. Things seem to run fast and slow
randomly - this is because the game has compatibility issues with dual core
CPUs. So not only is there no performance boost with dual core CPUs, there
are actually issues which require the following steps to be resolved:

Setting Processor Affinity Manually:

1. Launch the game
2. Whenever the game has loaded, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task
Manager.
3. Under the Processes tab, find the nameofthegame.exe process, right-click
on it, select 'Set Affinity' and in the box which appears, untick 'CPU 1'.

You may also check Microsoft's article on Dual core processors:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909944/en-us "

So far things seem to be running OK now (if a little bit slower).

Yes, 1.4 p111 tulatins.
P3-tulatin is not a dual-core CPU. My sister is using such a PC, though.
Asus TUSL2-C and 512M RAM.
