NFS1/NFS1SE: Did these games support an analog wheel?

Hi, I think I played NFS1 through using just the keyboard, but did it
support analog devices at all, or am I conflating it with the early
TestDrives, which I believe only supported 8-way digital gamepad-type
devices? Anyone know, and is there a how-to on getting NFS1 to run properly
on modern machines?

Sure, I've played NFSSE with a wheel! For what you ask about running
it on modern machines, (well, my P3 isn't all that modern anymore, but...)
