Seems the devs have cranked up the difficulty since the Underground series,
I'm having a hard time getting through the "challenge series". Is there a
way:
- to turn off speed blur?
- to ease off the difficulty on a particular challenge if I get stuck on it?

What tips and tricks are others using to get unstuck?

Motion blur can be deactivated by editing the windows registry (if you
feel capable enough to do so, fair warning...)

Open regedit, find key HKLM\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Most
Wanted. In there modify the value of g_MotionBlurEnable from 1 to 0.

As far as I know the difficulty level cannot be changed in career or for
challenges.

Very excellent Vellu, thanks, works fine. Maybe I'll be more successful now
that I'm not driving at 200+ km/h, waving a white cane out the window in an
attempt to avoid re-arranging the scenery. :)

I owned a very hard-accelerating car and motionblur just doesn't happen,
unrealistic and gimmicky, really hate it.

I'm feeling you man!
After challenge 61 it's taking me ages to get through each challenge, even
the tollboths which were "my speciality".
The only answear I have so far is practice practice practice and a bit of
luck :D

You can use a trainer that gives super acceleration, never busted, ...

My preference is to tackle the racing part of the game head-on without
cheats unless I get totally stuck, will keep a trainer in mind for when this
happens. Getting rid of speedblur and the whole financial aspect of the
game, I just see as removing irritations.

Plus you can use more cars during career. I used 11 or 12, selling
the first 2 to make room for the last 10 I kept.

Speed blur I could do without. The financial aspect of the game is fine.
Forces you to race more to upgrade your cars, only making you better. I wish
I could eliminate speedblur though.

You're welcome ;)

I'm just about ready to quit the Challenge series. Well and truly stuck in
the late 30's and starting to feel about this game the way I did about
Comanche 4 just before I uninstalled it.... highly irritated. I'm getting
too old for such overly tough games. :(

Hopefully, career mode will go a bit easier, at least for awhile.

I am enjoying career, and just beat Rival #2, working my way to beat the fag
looking punk Razor. I am glad to have gotten rid of that "blur" as it made
it terribly annoying especially with these faster cars. It's one thing if it
only blurred with NO2, but anything above 140mph or so is quite annoying
since you'll be doing most of your racing at those speeds later in the game.

I haven't done the challenge series yet though. I will probably give that a
shot once I finish beating the crap outta Razor.

Hey you guys. I haven't tried Challenge series yet. I'm on #4 in career
mode.
My question is one I should've asked a while back...

Does anyone know if the markers are static? For example, when I beat #8 and
marker 2 is his car, will it be that way for everyone who beats #8? It sure
would be nice to find a list of what markers to choose if I wanted their
pink slip or not.

No, they're random.

I've managed to win the pink slip of every rival so far - but then again, I
am only up to number 10.....

I've won most of the cars. I just select one question mark, and if it isn't
it usually the second time it is the car. I've won it the first time more
often than not, which allowed me to select a junkman part. And when I
haven't won it, at least I got a couple extra get outta jail free and
impound strikes.

That's how it usually goes... Two out of Three is pretty good odds for
getting the pink slip, but sometimes you miss it.

I most be the most unlucky guy in the Universe then! Only 1 extra car so
far, and I'm number 9 on the MW-list. I keep getting Get out of jail or
impound cards! Really unlucky Danish guy here ;-)

I'm not too lucky either I guess.
On #4. So in 10 attempts, I think I only got 3 or 4 cars. It's fine though.
I think I have what I need to finish up with.
