Discussion:
NFSMW a bit too arcady

I'm not objecting to the driving "model" which is obviously not meant to be
a simulation and is the main reason why I have every NFS created.... immense
fun.

Just started the game and going through the "Challenges". IMO, being
required to ram police cars, blast through road blocks, knock over lamp and
sign posts, demolish bus stops and tollgates and even bring down water
towers, boats on tresles and small buildings to win some challenges is a bit
over-the-top arcady. Hitting the lightest of these obstacles at high speed
would write off most cars.

In the NFSU-series, I used to flinch everytime I hit a sign post and shudder
to imagine the damage to my car, much better. Being forced to hit things is
too much. What's next, floating powerups?

Nevertheless, seems like a good game. Btw, are the graphics meant to be
kinda "washed-out" and lacking true/vibrant colour?

I know exactly what you mean!

I love the game, but I always think, "Yeah, like that would happen!"

And wouldn't the cops try to shoot the tyres out?

As for the graphics, I play on the PS2. Can't complain.

Driv3r had really grainy washed out graphics.

The sun moves very quickly so you get a low of dawn and dusk
like ligiting:

Some videos, these look any better?:

Yeah but there was a lot of wall bouncing that also would have
demolished cars, as well as car banging in U2 outruns:

Hey Jeff, I'd like to look at your vids but on a 56k modem from South
Africa, such downloads are not feasible. You got any small screenies?

True, but its a much smaller stretch to believe a bit of argy bargy could be
surviveable, than be expected to ram buildings to bring them down on police
cars. ;)

That bugged me at first too. But after playing the game I understood their
reasoning for making it like they did. Solid physics with an impenetrable
body. The only thing that is affected is tires on spike strips. I agree that
a head-on with a semi-truck at 180 mph should result in death and complete
and utter destruction, but it would kill the game.

I feel that NFS: MW is balanced very well, and that was a conscious design
decision. I just wish that they would make the cops just a tad bit smarter.
at least the heat level one cops.
